Explosive Ordnance Disposal Technician Second Class Curtis Ralph Hall, was born on the 10th of June 1982 in Burley, Idaho, to Pamela and Clarence Hall. Curtis enlisted in the United States Navy on the 7th of August 2001 after graduating from Burley High School and attending classes at the College of Southern Idaho. Upon graduating from Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Illinois, Curtis remained to complete the course of instruction to be rated as a Hull Technician Fireman Apprentice. He then traveled to EOD Mobile Unit Six in Charleston, South Carolina to gain experience with Navy EOD Divers. Curtis completed dive training in Panama City, Florida and graduated from the Naval School Explosive Ordnance Disposal as an EOD Assistant. He then accepted orders to EOD Mobile Unit Three in San Diego, California, where he performed as a Primary Mammal Handler and completed a deployment to Bahrain. Upon returning, Curtis went back to Naval School Explosive Ordnance Disposal to complete the eleven month course of instruction and graduated with his Basic Explosive Ordnance Disposal Technician Pin in Jun 2006. Curtis accepted orders to EOD Mobile Unit Eleven at Whidbey Island Washington, and in route earned his Basic Airborne Jump wings at US Army Airborne School, Fort Benning, Georgia. Curtis checked in to EOD Mobile Unit Eleven on 25 September 2006 and was assigned to Detachment One. He immediately proved himself as a hardworking and reliable detachment member by keeping the Detachment One diving and vehicle equipment properly maintained and inventoried. In addition, he was striving to complete his EOD Senior Technician qualification almost a year in advance. Curtis completed training with his detachment and deployed to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. During his service, Curtis was awarded The Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, Navy Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon, Expert Marksmanship Rifle Medal, and Expert Marksmanship Pistol Medal. Curtis is survived by his parents Clarence and Pamela, his brothers Robert, Michael and Randy, his sister Brenda, and a host of family and friends. |
